Café Assistant – Job Description

We’re looking for a friendly, proactive and skilled team member to join our café team. This role is hands-on and varied, involving coffee preparation, customer service, food prep, and general café operations.

Key Responsibilities:

●Preparing and serving coffee (barista skills preferred)

●Providing excellent customer service and maintaining a welcoming café atmosphere

●Preparing simple dishes and making the most of available fresh ingredients

●Managing stock levels and minimising waste

●Handling cash and operating the till

●Cleaning and maintaining hygiene standards in all areas of the café

About You:

●You have previous café experience or experience in a very similar role – essential

●You’re comfortable with basic cooking and food preparation, able to get creative with available ingredients

●You’re a team player but also confident working independently and making decisions

●You understand the importance of excellent customer service 

●You're positive, dependable, and care about maintaining a clean and welcoming space

 

Desirable Qualifications/Skills:

●Barista trained – preferred, though training can be provided

●Level 2 Food Hygiene – preferred, though training can be provided

Must have at least 2 years experience in a simular role.

Hours/day of work

The site is open Wednesday – Sunday

we are looking to fill shifts from Fri-Sunday and occasional Weds/thursdays approx 5 hours per shift 

Approx 10-15 hours a week (50 hours a month with some flexibility)

one weekend off a month.

Rotas will produced at least two months in advance where possible.
